A satchel, a stick, a rug and a bowl
Were possessions of this man so old,
Oh but wait! I forgot one more,
In his possession is a heart of gold.
Poor have less and it’s rich who’ve more,
But what are the parameters may I ask, to keep that score?
Due to such ignorance,
Such pertinacious credence
We forget sometimes that money alone
Never makes somebody rich,
It’s the magnanimity of the heart
This makes the strongest pitch.
Jargon of kindness, love, and compassion
Is gone; it has been forgotten.
But all is not lost, that I just saw,
When a beggar adopted a pup,
And defied the financial law.
The note-bearers don’t dance in the rain
It’s the coin-bearers, who do.
Allow me to add my cent or two:
Love and compassion aren’t measured
By a financial score,
And just like that,
Sometimes,
Less is more.
