I’ve been the protagonist of many
Of their poems and plays
I’ve been a thing of beauty
And I’ve been a thing of grace
Even though I stayed
Far far away.
Every night I peek from under my blanket
Even though the blanket tells me not to
It says it’s trying to protect me
And that is its job to do.
One night the blanket covers me completely
And I’m hidden in the sky
But I build my strength
And try really hard to come by.
My blanket warns me about the humans
Creatures I’m so fascinated by,
Says they’ll take away my pieces
Once they touch the sky.
Ignoring everything,
I shine like I’ve never done before,
In all my glory, brightening more and more,
They come in their planes,
I think they’ve come to play,
So wrong have I been,
As they take my pieces away,
And I stand there in utter dismay,
As they take my pieces away.
As they take my pieces away.
